2008 Winning Designs (20 of 20)

“Water” • 12’ x 6’ x 8’ • aluminum

Artist: Michael Young

Sponsor: Old Town Triangle Association

Location: Clark and Lincoln

Young is proficient with the abstract and the practical. He has created sculptures both large and small from a variety of materials. His works are in numerous public and private collections throughout the country. He was commissioned to create a sculpture and permanent display at the National Air and Space Museum, including an entryway arch, a 25’ cloud mural and an exit arch.

Michael brings us to the edge of discovery with “Water.” It represents how flora and fauna are entwined. Where does plant end and animal begin? Together they reflect their environment and suggest they exist in water, vital to their lives.
